In this semester we learned about many things. We first did a speech as an introduction, which was about our selves. Then we learned about the basics of Google. We were taught how to use Blogger and Feedly to write a reflective blog. Then we were told to give a presentation on what we can improve in this school. To do this presentation we were taught the basics of presentations. We saw Mr. Paterson’s model presentation and we watched videos of the rules of presenting. They taught us what we should include and not include in our slides. How we should deliver our presentations and much more. Mr. Paterson gave us many tools that we can use to make our presentation and our work for it better and more efficient.  When we introduced our selves with a speech, I was very nervous because I don't like talking in front of people.  Today we got feedback from Mr. Paterson individually. He pointed out that the title slide had space that needed to be covered. I think this is a major problem since the title slide is the first impression of our presentation. He also told us that our slides had colors of fonts that made colorblind people difficult to read. I thought that this was a major problem too since if the audience can not read the slide then there is no point in making them. He added that we have to fix our transitions and other things that we noticed as well. I think getting feedback from a third person is important because sometimes we are not able to notice things that we made.  Over the summer break, I would want to practice the presentation. However, I don't know if our group can practice after the kimatsu period starts because we have other things to do and we have other private plans.

 Today the last three groups presented. The first group was Kent, Yuki, and Ayana. They talked about how they can use the multipurpose room more effectively. They said that the multipurpose room became a storage room. However, I think that many people use the room for meetings and I think it's very useful. I thought that they should have given a survey out for more people since the multipurpose room is for our grade and grade three as well. The next group who presented were Tenki, Hinata, and Yuika. They talked about the desks being bad, buying new projectors and letting students design their own classrooms. I thought that their idea was interesting. I want to design my own classroom if it is possible. The last group was Keiichi, Maika, Kokoro. They talked about having a whole new classroom.  Today two teams gave their presentations. First, Soa, Yuma, and GaOn's group presented. Overall they did better than the groups who did it yesterday. However, they had some points they didn't cover from the feedback given by Mr. Paterson yesterday. They talked about numerous problems the school has from the insider point of view and they stated that solving this problem would make our school life a better one. They had some technical problems. Mr. Paterson told us that if we have a technical problem, the mouth should talk about the problem and the rest should try to fix the problem. The mouth should talk until the problem is solved. The thing that I think they should fix is the order of the presenter. I think they shouldn't mix the mouth, head, and the heart. The next group who presented was Honami, Yonosuke, and Mako. They talked about the ways we can use the rooftop for classrooms, and have new hallways(?) I thought it was an interesting idea to use the rooftop but I did...

 Today two groups presented, including us. We were the first group to come up and present. I think I showed my nervousness even though Mr. Paterson told us that our presentation starts when we stand up. I gave my phone to my friend and walked up to the front.  Honestly, our presentation was not the best. When I started the presentation, I was behind the desk that the laptop was on. I probably didn't move out of the desk because of two reasons. One is because I was too nervous to think about it. Second is because I had to use the laptop to go to the next slide and start the video and all the other jazz. We didn't practice in that room since we have to get permission to use the room and the projector. Since we weren't able to practice on a projector I didn't notice that I have to use the laptop to go to the next slide but at the same time, I have to walk around while I'm talking.  Today, Mr. Paterson told us that grammar doesn't matter much in our presentation. The important thing is how we deliver the presentation to the audience. The important elements of deciding if the presentation was whether it was good or bad are the word choice, how we look while we are talking, and the way we talk. The word choice takes only 8% of it. That is why we have to practice the presentation with audiences to experience the same situation as the real presentation.  I was glad to hear that grammar doesn't really matter in our presentations. I knew that grammar isn't the most important thing in our presentations but I didn't know that it only matters 8%. Even though I lived in America, I am not very good at speaking English, especially in front of people. I get nervous easily.  Today at the beginning of the class Mr. Paterson suddenly told us that the presentation was tomorrow. I was sure that the presentation was supposed to be next Monday but since the teacher was saying I panicked. I thought I wasn't ready at all. I wasn't able to practice much in our group. I didn't adjust my presentation to be about four minutes long. I wasn't ready at all. Then Mr. Paterson told us that he was testing us. He said that people who panicked are not ready, they need more practice.  Our slides were almost finished, we only had to put the survey results and the video. The survey results will be inputted by Friday. I used iMovie to edit the video we took last week. I fast forwarded the places we walked. My job was to put that video in the slide. I first used YouTube to try to put in the video in the slides but people who logged in with other accounts could not see it. I'm planning to use Google Drive to input it.  I realized again that practice pays off ...

 Today we were given time to work on our presentation slides. Since it was a rare sunny day today, we went outside to take a video of us getting lost on the campus. It was hard for us to take the video because we had to be careful to not have anyone in the video. This is because we have to get permission from each one of them, which would both time and effort. Mr. Paterson demonstrated the situation in which we have to get permission from people in photos and videos. We learned that we had to tell the person in the photo or video where we are going to use the photo or video. If it's a presentation, we have to tell who is going to watch it. It was also hard for us to take the video because we didn't want ourselves in the video so it was hard for us to communicate, we can only use pointing and gestures.
