7/1 Reflection

 Today the last three groups presented. The first group was Kent, Yuki, and Ayana. They talked about how they can use the multipurpose room more effectively. They said that the multipurpose room became a storage room. However, I think that many people use the room for meetings and I think it's very useful. I thought that they should have given a survey out for more people since the multipurpose room is for our grade and grade three as well. The next group who presented were Tenki, Hinata, and Yuika. They talked about the desks being bad, buying new projectors and letting students design their own classrooms. I thought that their idea was interesting. I want to design my own classroom if it is possible. The last group was Keiichi, Maika, Kokoro. They talked about having a whole new classroom. They said having moving walls can allow us to have normal classrooms and group presentation classrooms as well. I thought that the idea was very cool. However, I thought that it would take a lot of money. I thought that Keiichi's way of presenting was very good. He made eye contact with everyone, and most importantly he walked around. It was very natural, I want to do presentations like him.

9/30 Reflection

Today Mr. Paterson introduces us to a tool that shows us if our choices of color are color-blind friendly. I never thought of the color choices that deeply. I knew that some combinations of colors are hard to see but just for normal people. When we checked our site, there wasn’t that much to fix but I learned that there are choices that normal people can’t notice.  Today the class was supposed to start the presentations but we were given more time. I hope that we can do a better presentation than the last one.

    Today in class, we were introduced to the world-systems theory. This theory was developed by Immanuel Wallerstein. Mr. Paterson showed us a graph with Kondratiev waves, when the graph goes up the monopoly of the technology and when it goes down the monopoly ends. This suggests that the world is divided into 3 countries, ①core countries, ②semi-periphery countries, and ③periphery countries. It argues that technology gets passed down through generations; rich countries get to use the new high-tech stuff first and when they are done with it, the poorer countries get to use it, when it's not high-tech anymore. The richer countries don't like it when other countries infringe on their monopoly and they try to come into the "core countries". They don't like sharing so it's very rare for semi-periphery countries to bump up to the core countries.       Today Mr. Paterson told us about the compare and contrast essay paper that we are going to turn in for this semester. When I was first informed that we didn't need to read our book like we did last semester for the first time I was very relieved. When I read books for assignments I have to constantly leave my antenna out on things like symbolism, tone, the author's thoughts, etc and it doesn't let me enjoy the book. The book becomes a pain when I have to think constantly about something else than the plot itself. I'm also relieved that we won't need a bibliography in this essay. This would save me time since I won't need to put articles from google scholar that I used hours to find. We just had a research assignment, and f inding reliable sources are very difficult. But since I had Zotero, it saves me a lot of time compared to the students who don't have it.      We decided to film our video this weekend. I hope we get enough footage to make the video...
