2/25 Reflection

This blog post is not in full sentences. This is just for me to remember.
Kind of hard to see the table slide
→we should check the colors of our slides if it is hard to see or not
Hunger is kind of cut off
→we should check our slides later
Clasping hands
Doesn’t move
→we should practice later
The sleeves are not rolled up
The transition is kind of long
→we should check our animation
Looks at the screen
→we should remember what is in the video
The website the teamwork is not good
→we should check which places on the website we're going to show
We should be talking during a problem
Maybe start talking a little bit
The one last thing is gonna be the one last slide
The font is kind of boring
The transition was not good teamwork
→we should check when we are going to the next slide together

9/30 Reflection

Today Mr. Paterson introduces us to a tool that shows us if our choices of color are color-blind friendly. I never thought of the color choices that deeply. I knew that some combinations of colors are hard to see but just for normal people. When we checked our site, there wasn’t that much to fix but I learned that there are choices that normal people can’t notice.  Today the class was supposed to start the presentations but we were given more time. I hope that we can do a better presentation than the last one.

2021/10/12

    Today in class, we were introduced to the world-systems theory. This theory was developed by Immanuel Wallerstein. Mr. Paterson showed us a graph with Kondratiev waves, when the graph goes up the monopoly of the technology and when it goes down the monopoly ends. This suggests that the world is divided into 3 countries, ①core countries, ②semi-periphery countries, and ③periphery countries. It argues that technology gets passed down through generations; rich countries get to use the new high-tech stuff first and when they are done with it, the poorer countries get to use it, when it's not high-tech anymore. The richer countries don't like it when other countries infringe on their monopoly and they try to come into the "core countries". They don't like sharing so it's very rare for semi-periphery countries to bump up to the core countries.       Today Mr. Paterson told us about the compare and contrast essay paper that we are going to turn in for this semester. When I was first informed that we didn't need to read our book like we did last semester for the first time I was very relieved. When I read books for assignments I have to constantly leave my antenna out on things like symbolism, tone, the author's thoughts, etc and it doesn't let me enjoy the book. The book becomes a pain when I have to think constantly about something else than the plot itself. I'm also relieved that we won't need a bibliography in this essay. This would save me time since I won't need to put articles from google scholar that I used hours to find. We just had a research assignment, and f inding reliable sources are very difficult. But since I had Zotero, it saves me a lot of time compared to the students who don't have it.      We decided to film our video this weekend. I hope we get enough footage to make the video...
